The ISCCL was created by the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) in partnership with the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) in 1970 and has ever since successfully contributed to ICOMOS.
ICOMOS is a professional association founded in 1965 in Warsaw that works for the conservation and protection of cultural heritage places around the World.
The purposes of the ISCCL are:
− Promote world-wide cooperation in the identification, increased awareness, study, education and training for protection, preservation, restoration, monitoring, management of cultural landscapes;
− Collaborate and communicate with and contribute with ICOMOS and IFLA and report to ICOMOS;
− Collaborate with IUCN in regard to combined works of nature and humanity;
− Work with UNESCO World Heritage in assessing, monitoring and advising;
− Undertake collaborative projects with other ICOMOS International Scientific Committees;
− And other objectives as determined during the working programs
− Maintain the archival record and institutional memory of the ISCCL
lcomos Committee - ISCCL is an international cultural association with no funds. Members work on a volunteer basis.
